The Columbia Group's (TCG) focus for IT Project Management is to seek those products and services that have the potential to improve business processes, interoperability and computing services and leverage industry IT/IM (Information Management) standards to determine their potential impact on customer's costs, manpower, and overall operational budgets. We draw on our full understanding of the present Marine Corps and Navy IT architecture and the technologies and programs that are shaping that architecture for the 21st Century.

Because TCG provides extensive IT and Information Assurance (IA) support for military programs, we have unique insights into Navy and Marine Corps direction. We understand governmental and commercial portfolio and network standards and have representatives supporting many of the policy and standards teams. We quickly determine which technologies and commercial products are suitable to the Navy and Marine Corps environment (GWOT, OIF, MEF) and which are not. We have several approaches and methods for evaluation: best of breed analysis, return on investment, lifecycle costs, and financial analysis. Because we are not a product vendor or integrator we will serve as a completely unbiased broker for new technology solutions, evaluating them objectively on their merits and their viability.
