The Columbia Group's History
The Columbia Group can trace its roots back to 1967, when Columbia Research Corporation (CRC) was founded by Dr. Norman Witbeck. Throughout the years, Dr. Witbeck led CRC in support of several military programs with expertise in engineering, logistics and acquisition. Another milestone in the company's history came in 1985, when its Chairman Martin Arase began a startup company known as Computer Products, Incorporated (CPI), which offered financial and technological solutions to its customers. From its beginning, CPI supported military department CFOs with financial management professionals and underlying management information systems. In July 2005, CRC was acquired by CPI forming The Columbia Group.
On June 15th, 2008, The Columbia Group assumed the operations of AMSEC Rosenblatt's Washington, DC office, a division which specialized in naval architecture and marine engineering. The acquisition expanded The Columbia Group's naval architecture and marine engineering capability, adding ship design for whole and auxiliary ships systems to The Columbia Group's service offerings. It also created a new division of The Columbia Group: the Rosenblatt Ship Design Division.
In June 2010, Eagle Systems and Services, Inc, a company headquartered in Lawton, OK, joined The Columbia Group as a wholly-owned subsidiary. Eagle Systems, which specializes in providing training and integrated logistics support services for the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force, expanded The Columbia Group's market reach and further diversified its offerings.
